In this article, HongTelecom introduce topologies and specifications supported by the eRRU3232.

Topologies and Specifications

Description

CPRI network topology

  • Star topology
  • Single-level cascading intra- or inter-board cold backup ring topology

  • Figure 1 shows the star topology.
  • Figure 5 and Figure 6 show the single-level cascading intra-board and inter-board cold backup ring topologies, respectively.

Path division

A 4T4R eRRU3232 can be configured as two 2T2R eRRUs.

eRRU network topology

  • Cell combination
  • SFN combination

In the fixed network topology:

  • When the LBBPd4 functions as the baseband processing unit, the following combinations are supported:
    • Intra-eRRU cell combination for at most two 2T2R eRRUs
    • Inter-eRRU cell combination for at most six eRRU3232s. Each eRRU3232 provides only one 2T2R eRRU.
    • Mixed cell combination for at most six 2T2R eRRUs
  • When the UBBPd6 functions as the baseband processing unit, the following combinations are supported:
    • Intra-eRRU cell combination or intra-eRRU SFN combination for at most two 2T2R eRRUs
    • Inter-eRRU SFN combination for at most six 4T4R eRRU3232s
    • Inter-eRRU cell combination or inter-eRRU SFN combination for at most six eRRU3232s. Each eRRU3232 provides only one 2T2R eRRU.
    • Mixed cell combination or mixed SFN combination for at most six 2T2R eRRUs
  • When the UBBPd4 functions as the baseband processing unit, the following combinations are supported:
    • Intra-eRRU cell combination or intra-eRRU SFN combination for at most two 2T2R eRRUs
    • Inter-eRRU SFN combination for at most three 4T4R eRRU3232s
    • Inter-eRRU cell combination or inter-eRRU SFN combination for at most three eRRU3232s. Each eRRU3232 provides only one 2T2R eRRU.
    • Mixed cell combination or mixed SFN combination for at most three 2T2R eRRUs

In the ECV system:

After two eRRU3232s are configured as four 2T2R eRRUs, they support mixed cell combination or mixed SFN combination of three 2T2R eRRUs when the UMPTb2 or UBBPd4 functions as the baseband processing unit.

Super remote cell coverage

The cell coverage distance can be greater than 15 km when the LBBPd4, UBBPd4, or UBBPd6 functions as the baseband processing unit.

Cascade

When the eRRU3232 is used with a UBBPd4 or UBBPd6 board and uses only two paths (other two paths are vacant):

  • Cell bandwidth is 5 MHz or 10 MHz:
    • Three-level cascading is supported when the UBBPd4 board is used.
    • Four levels are supported when the UBBPd6 board is used.
  • Two levels are supported if the cell bandwidth is 15 MHz or 20 MHz.

Remote distance between the eRRU3232 and the BBU3910/BBU3900

If only one level of eRRU3232 is configured, the maximum distance is 38 km. The remote distance reduces by 1 km for every new level of cascading. For example, the maximum distance is 35 km between fourth-level cascading eRRU3232s and the BBU3910/BBU3900.
